How to install an IPDS DIMM
CAUTION
Static electricity can damage the IPDS DIMM. You should either wear an antistatic wrist wrap, or frequently touch the metal surface of the printer.
HP LaserJet 2100
-
- Install the DIMM according to the printer's User Guide or Quick Guide IPDS DIMM for HP LaserJet 2100.
HP LaserJet 3700
- Turn the printer off. Rotate the printer for access to its right side. Unplug the power cord and disconnect any cables
- Grasp the cover and pull it firmly towards the rear of the printer until it stops
- Remove the cover from the printer
- Loosen the captive screw holding the Compact Flash access door with a Phillips #2 screwdriver
- Open the door
- Hold the DIMM with the fingers against the side edges and thumbs against the back edge. Line the notches on the DIMM with the DIMM slot. (Check that the locks on each side of the DIMM slot are open, or outward)
- Press the DIMM straight into the slot (press firmly). Make sure the locks on each side of the DIMM snap inwards into place. (To remove a DIMM, the locks must be released)
- Close the DIMM access door and tighten the screw
- Set the bottom of the cover onto the printer. Make sure the bottom tabs on the cover fit into the corresponding slots in the printer
- Reattach any interface cables and the power cord, then turn the printer
HP LaserJet 4000, 4050, 4100, 4200 and 4300
- Turn the printer off. Rotate the printer for access to its right side. Unplug the power cord and disconnect any cables
- Grasp the cover and pull it firmly towards the rear of the printer until it stops
- Remove the cover from the printer
- Loosen the captive screw holding the DIMM access door with a Phillips #2 screwdriver
- Open the door

HP LaserJet 5000 and 5100
- Turn the printer off. Rotate the printer for access to its back side. Unplug the power cord and disconnect any cables
- Unscrew the two big end screws
- Remove the HP Controller
- Hold the DIMM with the fingers against the side edges and thumbs against the back edge. Line the notches on the DIMM with the DIMM slot. (Check that the locks on each side of the DIMM slot are open, or outward)
- Press the DIMM straight into the slot (press firmly). Make sure the locks on each side of the DIMM snap inwards into place. (To remove a DIMM, the locks must be released)
- Close the DIMM access door and tighten the screw
- Set the bottom of the cover onto the printer. Make sure the bottom tabs on the cover fit into the corresponding slots in the printer
- Reattach any interface cables and the power cord, then turn the printer
HP LaserJet 8000, 8100, 8150, 9000, 9000MFP and 9000LMFP
- Switch printer OFF and unplug power cord
- Position the printer so the left side is facing you
- Loosen (do not remove) the outside screws on both sides of the controller board
- Remove the controller board from the printer and place on a level, non-conducting surface. You can see the three DIMM boards slots (J6, J7 and J8 for HP 8000/8100/8150) and slots (J2, J3 and J4 for HP 9000/9000MFP or LMFP)
- Hold the DIMM with the fingers against the side edges and thumbs against the back edge. Line the notches on the DIMM with the DIMM slot. (Check that the locks on each side of the DIMM slot are open, or outward)
- Press the DIMM straight into the slot (press firmly). Make sure the locks on each side of the DIMM snap inwards into place. (To remove a DIMM, the locks must be released)
- Close the DIMM access door and tighten the screw
- Set the bottom of the cover onto the printer. Make sure the bottom tabs on the cover fit into the corresponding slots in the printer
- Reattach any interface cables and the power cord, then turn the printer
HP LaserJet 9055MFP and 9065MFP
- Switch printer OFF and unplug power cord
- Position the printer so the back side is facing you
- With a Philips #2 screwdriver, unscrew the six screws from the print controller access cover
- Open the cover and lift up to release the cover form the rear of the MFP
- Remove the ICB memory access cover. There are six screws
- You can see the empty DIMM slot
- Hold the DIMM with the fingers against the side edges and thumbs against the back edge. Line the notches on the DIMM with the DIMM slot. (Check that the locks on each side of the DIMM slot are open, or outward)
- Press the DIMM straight into the slot (press firmly). Make sure the locks on each side of the DIMM snap inwards into place. (To remove a DIMM, the locks must be released)
- Close the DIMM access door and tighten the screw
- Set the bottom of the cover onto the printer. Make sure the bottom tabs on the cover fit into the corresponding slots in the printer
- Reattach any interface cables and the power cord, then turn the printer
