Bluetooth Printer Adapter

How to print with the Bluetooth Software Suite

How to print with IBM, Motorola and Toshiba Bluetooth PC card. All these PC cards use the Bluetooth Software Suite

Warning: You must run Bluetooth Software Suite v. 1.09. Updating the software ensures that the Bluetooth Printer Adapter and your Laptop can communicate properly. If you run Windows 98 make sure the Flow Control is set to None. [more].

Note: Before printing, make sure that the Bluetooth PC card is installed and properly functioning. To locate instructions for installing the Bluetooth PC card, please see one of the following references;

  • The documentation that came with your Bluetooth PC card
  • The manufacturer's web site or customer support

Part 1: Preparation

  1. Power on the Bluetooth Printer Adapter and the printer to which it is connected. Please refer to the Quick Guide that was supplied together with your Bluetooth Printer Adapter.
  2. Power on your computer with the Bluetooth PC card and software installed.

Part 2: Add a Bluetooth COM port

  1. Open the Microsoft Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Bluetooth Configuration Tool.
  3. Click Add. Select the COM port (e.g., com4) to use. Select Serial Port Profile as Associated Profile. To confirm the settings, click Add.
  4. Restart your computer.

Part 3: Add printer

The steps below varies slightly depending on your version of Windows. Please refer to your Windows documentation.

  1. On the Start menu click Settings, Printers.
  2. Click Add Printer. Click Next.
  3. Select Local Printer. Click Next.
  4. Click Have Disk to install the files from the printer manufacturer's installation disk (or downloaded the files from the manufacturer's web site). Click Next.
  5. In Available Ports select the COM port (e.g., com4) you created in part 1. Click Next.
  6. Enter Printer name and select the printer as default. Click Next.
  7. Select No to print a test page. Click Finish.

Part 4: Bluetooth COM port link establishment

  1. Start the Bluetooth Neighborhood.
  2. On the Bluetooth menu, click Device Discovery.
  3. Drag the COM port icon to the discovered Bluetooth Printer Adapter. This will establish the COM port link.

Part 5: Print

  1. Open any Windows program and print to the printer you created in part 3.

Note: After printing, the Bluetooth PC card and the Bluetooth Printer Adapter will remain connected (blue light is on). While connected, you may continue to print, however no other Bluetooth devices will be able to discover or print to the Bluetooth Printer Adapter.

Part 6: Disconnect

  1. In the Bluetooth Neighborhood click the Bluetooth Printer Adapter.
  2. On the Bluetooth menu, click Disconnect.

Turning off your computer or the Bluetooth Printer Adapter, or moving the two apart (out of range) will also cause disconnection.
