How to AS/400 DCA auto-configure printers using TN5250e

Check/change the QAUTOVRT setting

1. Issue the WRKCTLD*.VWS command.
   This will determine the number of auto-configured virtual controllers on the system.
2. Issue the DSPSYSVAL QAUTOVRT command.
   If the system value of QAUTOVRT is zero, devices must be configured manually. See Installation & Operator's Guide (60363) for further details.
   If the system value of QAUTOVRT is equal to the number of auto-configured virtual controllers, the QAUTOVRT value must be increased by the number of devices you want to configure.

Configure the PrintServer using PrintGuide™

1. Start PrintGuide™.
2. In Configuration View for the selected DocOut™ PrintServer, locate the DCA using TN5250e logical printer.
3. Right-click on it in the list and select Edit Logical Printer.
4. Select the Telnet Print tab.
5. Enter the Device Name.
   This will be the printer's name on the AS/400. It must unique and must have 10 characters or less.
6. Enter the AS/400's IP address in Host IP Address.
   Note: The Host Port is default set to 23. This is the standard, pre-defined Telnet port and it is most unlikely that you will need to change it.
7. Click OK.
8. Select Save Configuration, remembering to check Restart PrintServer after download in the Confirm dialog.
