Prerequisites
- Microsoft Windows NT server version 4.0 (x86) or higher.
- Use of TCP/IP requires that TCP/IP is installed.
- Use of LU1 and LU6.2/APPC requires the Microsoft SNA server version 3.0 with service pack 3, or higher is installed.
Pre-installation task
- Add the Windows printer(s) you wish DocOut to print to.
The printer(s) must have a local spool queue attached.
- Prepare your answers for the Logical Printer Wizard, which is invoked as part of the DocOut installation.
Configuration overview
DocOut can be configured for TCP/IP and/or SNA printing. In either case you need various bits of information from your host personnel on AS/400 and/or mainframe.
- TCP/IP printing
Involves setting up an IP Address and TCP/IP Port Number in DocOut and on the host.
- SNA printing
Involves installing and setting up a Microsoft SNA server on the same NT server, where DocOut is installed. DocOut only needs to know the LU 6.2 Alias, but there is a whole range of settings that must match between the SNA server and the host. SNA printing is by far the most complex to configure.
