EPM GUI Assistant
The EPM GUI Assistant is used to configure and start the ISPF GUI IBM Workstation Agent (WSA) that communicates with the VTAM and TCP/IP User interface.
Overview
The EPM GUI assistant is a program that operates in the Windows NT, 95/98 or 2000 envinroment. This program is used to configure and start the ISPF GUI IBM Workstation Agent (WSA) that communicates with the VTAM and TCP/IP User interface. The IBM Workstation Agent is used to present the User Interface panels in a separate application (i.e. no Web browser is required).
The Enterprise Print Manager VTAM and TCP/IP User Interface implements the generation of the same output protocol that is used with the IBM ISPF C/S protocols, i.e. a platform independent GUI protocol.
Note:The use of the GUI User Interfaces does not require individual user access and definition to ISPF/TSO. The IBM ISPF Application server is not used in conjunction with this implementation.
EPM GUI Assistant Requirements
Typical Installation and Connection Scenario
As indicated in the previous section, please refer to the pre-requisite tasks indaicted in the IBM ISPF User's Guide prior to starting the installation process.
The following sequence of activates is required to install and use the EPM GUI Assistant.
- Install the ISPF C/S WSA.
The ISPF User's Guide describes the steps required to install from ISPF option 3.7 to the supported workstation environments.
Once the WSA code is installed in a LAN environment, it can be installed on subsequent workstations without performing the download process.
- Install the EPM GUI Assistant
The EPM GUI assistant component is supplied to simplify the tailoring process, and to provide additional runtime values to the IBM ISPF WSA component, and is used to initiate the session between the ISPF WSA and the VTAM and TCP/IP User Interface.
Refer to the supplied installation procedures that accompany the Workstation software for instructions on how to install this component. The WSA software must be installed and accessible on the workstation prior to the installation of the MPI Tech Windows GUI software.
- Customize the EPM GUI assistant component
The following configuration details will be required for operation of the WSA and the EPM GUI Assistant:
- IP Address or Name
This is the IP address or name where the OS/390 system operates, and the VTAM and TCP/IP User Interface.
- Host Port Number
The port number configured in the VTAM and TCP/IP startup PROC must match the host port number supplied to the WSA. The default value of 15994 can be used.
- WSA Port Number
The port number that will be used by WSA to receive requests from the host must be supplied. The default value of 15993 can be used. The WSA port number must match the number supplied to the ISPF WSA.
- UserId and Password
The RACF Userid and Password will be required that are authorized for operation in conjunction with the VTAM and TCP/IP User Interface.
- Screen Size
The dimensions of the screen size that will be used can be supplied. A default value of 24 x 80 will be used if no value is supplied.
- WSA Path
The location of the WSA program needs to be supplied to the EPM GUI assistant. This value is used to launch the WSA program.
EPM GUI Assistant Operation
The EPM GUI assistant can be started from the installed program icon. Configuration values supplied earlier will be used as default, or these values can be overridden by the user.
Error messages and other information generated by the EPM GUI Assistant program will be presented at the workstation.
