Quick Guide
CAUTION
Static electricity can damage the interface. You should either wear an antistatic wrist wrap, or frequently touch the metal surface of the printer.
Pre-installation task
Check the ring speed setting on pin 4 on the DIP switch no. 1 (sw1) on the back of the interface. 4 Mbps=OFF; 16 Mbps=ON.
Install interface in printer
- Make sure no power cord is connected to the printer.
- Locate the printer's interface slot by way of the printer's manual.
- Loosen the screws and remove the plate covering the printer’s interface slot.
- Insert the interface in the slot as described in the printer's manual and tighten the screws.
Network installation
- Make sure no power cord is connected to the printer.
- Connect network cable to the RJ45 port on the rear panel of the interface. A cable converting from RJ45 to DB9 is provided with the PrintServer. Power on the printer.
- The complete Installation Guide will be printed.
Note: If nothing is printed, please check that the printer is on-line and not in an error condition (i.e. paper out, toner low, etc.).
Generate settings printout
- Press the TEST button on the back of the PrintServer.
