MPI Tech releases next generation mainframe printing software

MPI Tech introduces new releases of the entire mainframe printing software program: Enterprise Print Manager (EPM) Print Sub System (PSS) and AFP Conversion Module (ACM).
New features include:
- New Advanced Function Presentation (AFP) architecture features
- XML Printing, XML has become the standard data format for e-commerce applications between businesses
- PDF output enhancements
AFP Architecture updates
- 2D Barcode support 2D bar codes are bar code symbols that encode the data vertically as well as horizontally, so that much more information can be contained in a much smaller space on a page
- FS45 IO image support
- Object Containers improvements, Object Containers enables virtually any type of data to be contained in the AFP architecture. Object container for holding PDF, JFIF, TIFF or GIF will be supported
XML printing
Extensible Markup Language (XML) has become the standard format for data interchange to support e-business initiatives such as Web services, business process integration, business-to-business commerce (B2B) and more.
XML is now accepted as input with output options similar to AFP conversion and printing, i.e. PCL5, PostScript and PDF.

- Modification protection to prevent the user from altering the contents of the document
- Read/password protection by prompting the user for a password when attempting to open the document

- PDF output file splitting using
- Automatic page rotation used to show the document correctly on the screen.
- Linearization; allowing the first page of a document to be displayed quickly while the rest of pages is being converted
