FAQ

Why can't PSS/ HPR print via IBM TCP/IP after OS/390 upgrade?

Consider the following points:

  • After upgrading OS/390 from 2.4 or previous to 2.5 or higher, the PSS or HPR PROC (procedure) MUST be RACF authorized for OMVS. This is required in order to be allowed to use the TCP/IP stack.
  • After upgrading from TCP/IP version 3.1 or 3.2 to a higher level, the PSS keyword 'TCP' MUST be set to 'TCP=IBMAPI'. The reason for this is that the IUCV interface is no longer available on later versions of TCP/IP.
  • In general, MPI Tech recommends applying all available PTF's to IBM TCP/IP and OMVS.
  • It is recommended that you use PSS versions later than 7.07 for OS/390 versions later than 2.4.
