A Hewlett-Packard architected printer language that provides an application program to control a range of printer features across a number of printing devices. Printing on a HP LaserJet, DeskJet or other Hewlett-Packard printers requires that the data stream send to the printer is PCL.

An MPI Tech architected bi-directional host-to-printer data stream that contains both data and controls. ICDS is generated by EPM and PSS host applications.
